Paula Cunningham

Sterling Marlin was born on 30 June 1957 in Columbia, Tennessee. Paula is married to Marlin and together they have two children, Steadman and Sutherlin. The reason for the name Marlin is known is because he is the son of former NASCAR driver Coo Coo Marlin. His father Marlin introduced to racing at a young age and began to help in Coo Coo Marlin shop. Once Marlin was 15, was to change tires from his father and after a year of diligent work and dedication, Coo Coo Marlin made his father Marlin team leader.
Marlin is an all 'round again student in Tennessee. When not helping his father on the tracks, played basketball and football in high school. During his senior year, was promoted to captain while playing both quarterback and linebacker.
Marlin made his NASCAR debut in a fairly nontraditional. He had to take over land from his father when Coo Coo Marlin was injured during the Nashville Speedway in 1976 and was 19 years old. Although enthusiasm for taking his father, who only managed 55 laps due to failure of the oil pump in the race. After that, Marlin was given more career opportunities. He made two starts in 1978, which finished ninth in the World 600 and twenty-fifth at Nashville for Cunningham. Soon after, Marlin won three track championships Nashville Speedway Roger and soon ran for leading his Hambry Hesco Exhaust # 17 Chevrolet in the first season of his cup full. This, finished 19th in points and won Rookie of the Year. Later in 1986, Marlin joined Hoss Ellington. That season, his best was when he finished second in the Firecracker 400. However, in 1987, was hired in time track by Billy Hagan. With four top-fives and finishing eleven points, went to the next season to get better results and also managed to snag a couple of offers sponsorship.
Marlin made his first victory in 1994 during the Daytona 500 and shocks everyone when he repeated his success the following year. There have been only Two other drivers who have been able to do and were Richard Petty and Cale Yarborough. Marlin also made history to make his first one wins the Daytona 500. However, in 2001, his car had been in contact with the car of Dale Earnhardt Sr., who later proved fatal. Because of what happened, Marlin and his family was the focal the point of hatred and live in fear of death threats they received from disgruntled fans. Son Dale Earnhardt Sr, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Michael Waltrip acquitted and publicly defended Marlin and his name and his reputation was adopted as a result of NASCAR's investigation into the tragedy.
In 2002, Marlin had to suffer a serious injury neck which was the result of an accident in the Protection One 400 at Kansas Speedway. This forced him to miss the remainder of the season. In 2005, Marlin had to undergo another loss. This time it was the death of his father, Coo Coo Marlin. In 2006, Marlin was under MB2 Motorsports to drive the # 14 Waste Management Chevy in honor of his father. He was quoted as saying: "To drive a car with the same number that my father had made to move even more special."
Steadman Marlin's son has also been bitten by the racing bug as a result, has started to run well. When Marlin is the course that is either helping his son with his career, watching football Volunteers Tennessee and collecting Civil War artifacts.
