Well, as you probably know, the Lectionary is elected by the clergy, at least in the Episcopal Church. They have reasons for their selections Gospel. Some things are left out. However, I am inspired by the attention given inspiration to reading the Bible in the Church, and the selections are made. People read these selections earlier in the week to prepare for next Sunday. In the Church I go there is a Bible study each week to look at the selections. Much attention is paid to these readings, and so I hope that communicated that I read the names on the Bible. This includes long lists of names of family members, who begat whom.
