Webster Hall was named in 1974 by Leslie Webster of the class of 1915. Originally built in 1909 to house the Departments of Biology and Geology. The design Webster Hall is wonderful. McKim, Mead and White designed the building and were widely applauded for his artwork. A number of donors provided financial support for the construction of the building. Andrew Carnegie was one of the major donors who gave $ 75,000.
Webster Hall was built in 1886 at 125 East 11th Street, New York, and was designed by architect Charles Rentz. Webster Hall originally was the first modern American Night Club, but later evolved to be a place concert recording of place and a center for corporate events as well. It was during the 1950s when the Webster Hall also started hosting live concerts Latin artists like Tito Rodriguez and Tito Puente to popular musicians like Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Later, RCA Records made the Webster Hall on its east coast recording spaces, which Webster Hall Studios. Some of the samples recorded at the famous Webster Hall include Fiddler on the roof Harold Prince and Carol Channing's Hello, Dolly! Moreover that musicians like Elvis Presley, Tony Bennett and Ray Charles, also performed at Webster hall. With the new and improved audio, video and lighting technology, Webster, was restored again in 1992 by brothers Ballinger, with the capacity to store about 2,000 people. Webster Hall has been a place to live performances by musicians as Linkin Park, Alicia Keys, Usher, Josh Stone, Madonna, Nelly, Duran Duran, Good Charlotte and Evanessence.
