The first time I think Koh Samui can be forgiven for thinking that a tropical island in Thailand would be a little limited in terms of dining options that are offer. Surely there will be some decent traditional Thai food and not much else, but could not be further from the truth. Samui now boasts a multitude of class restaurants with cuisine from around the world as well as more than "decent" Thai food. While most restaurants tend to be in and around Chaweng Beach, would be a mistake not to make the effort to explore further, since there are some fantastic restaurants located throughout the island. The following are just a selection of what Samui has to offer, and would do well to try at least one of them during your stay – we certainly do not regret it!

This is a restaurant that can boast of providing "Royal Thai Cuisine," as Chef Chom itself comes from a family who used to cook in the palace of the late Princess Vibhavadee Rangsit. It is also the most delicious home-style Thai cuisine, which features the award winning "Tongsai Thai seafood salad.

The restaurant itself is on a low hill and is very spacious and airy, with seating inside and out, and naturally offers some views of the bay. Despite being Like something out of the track in Choeng Mon Beach, is well worth the effort to make the trip at least once during your stay.
