Old Garden Roses are one of the varieties of roses that were recognized prior to 1867, where the first modern hybrid tea rose was introduced.
The principal types
The principal types of old garden roses are: Bourbons, Noisettes, Portlands, species, centifolia, albs, dinnerware, apricots, hybrid perpetual, moss roses, Gallica, and teas.
Often referred to as "Old Fashioned" or "Antique Roses, these roses are the predecessors of some of the most beautiful modern hybrids. Although some are native to the United States, mostly in Europe and Asia.
Unlike roses modern, which are applauded for their vibrant colors, compact buds, and recurrent blooming, Old Garden Roses are usually pastel colored and are of a single flower. Its annual flowers very expected have come to symbolize the arrival of summer.
These flowers are true survivors. Most Old Garden Roses are hardy, even in the colder weather and harsh. Sometimes it seems as if they can endure anything. Their versatility can rarely be matched by any other kind of rose.
Plantation
Like all roses, Old Garden Roses bloom best when planted in a favorable position. They need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. The place to its former Rose Garden is an open area away from shade trees. The soil in this area should be well drained and fertilized prior to planting.
Soil preparation is a very important element in the healthy growth, beautiful roses. You should add a large amount of organic material such as manure to the bed flowers before planting. The fertilizer will enrich the soil and aids in water drainage. It is highly recommended that you prepare your garden soil several months in advance nutrients to an agreement. Your Old Garden Roses will prosper in this rich environment.
Once prepared the flower bed and settled, is ready to begin planting, a very easy task. Dig a hole 1 foot in depth and diameter. Remove the plant from the pot. Carefully untangle any loose roots instead plant directly into the hole. Fill any remaining space with loose soil. You do not need any soil additives at this time.
Make sure saturate the soil with water. Its new plant will require water on a daily basis for 3 weeks. At any time the ground is dry, give your plant a quick shower.
Beauty Effort
Mulch can be really a rose gardener's best friend. Repels weeds and is ideal for holding moisture, which encourages your flowers to bloom heating in the summer months. Do not worry about diseases unless you see strange spots on the foliage. Although Old Garden Roses are not 100% free of disease, are known to be very resistant to disease. It's pretty rare for a disease to debilitate these plants. They are very tough and very self-maintenance.
For a beautiful addition to your garden of roses, give yourself 1 of these Old Garden Rose varieties. The flowers and their fragrances are sure to please your senses. Therefore, these roses have withstood the test time.
