
Pittsburgh, the school creates the High School Reform
This summer Pittsburgh Schools Superintendent Mark Roosevelt announced the creation of the Schools Pittsburgh High School Reform Task Force. High schools in Pittsburgh School Reform Task Force is composed of education professionals, private foundations, professionals, parents and community members. The Working Group to investigate current practices in schools in Pittsburgh and determine the best approach to reform secondary school should be. Pittsburgh Schools High School Reform Force is responsible for evaluating and ultimately redesigning high schools Pittsburgh schools as part of Excellence in Pittsburgh schools to plan for All "reform. "Excellence for All plan aims improve academic performance and graduation rates increased in all schools in Pittsburgh.
The most important goal of Excellence "for the plan for All "reform is to increase the graduation rate by 10 percent by the end of the 2008-2009 school year. Pittsburgh Schools High School Reform Task Force, will lead reform to high school students will have the opportunity to succeed after high school. The fundamental principle of Excellence for All plan "reform is that all students regardless of their age, experience or background can achieve a quality education. Secondary schools in Pittsburgh School Reform Task Force to evaluate education in secondary schools is based on six fundamental principles. These principles will be used to guide changes in schools Secondary: personalized learning environment, academic commitment of students, teachers qualified, responsible leaders, communities and young people involved and an integrated curriculum, instruction and assessment supports.
Pittsburgh Schools High School Reform Task Force Members and funding
Secondary Schools Pittsburgh School Reform Task Force will be jointly led by Jan Ripper, Director at Large for high school reform and Dr. Lynn Spampinato, Superintendent of Instruction, Assessment and Accountability. Middle schools Pittsburgh School Reform Force visit and observe the techniques used in high schools recognized nationally in urban centers around the U.S. to determine what techniques would be beneficial for schools in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh Schools High School Reform Task Force will be mainly financed through a $ 255,000 grant from the
Fund for Excellence in Schools Pittsburgh. The Fund for Excellence in the Pittsburgh schools is a newly created by a local foundation. The inaugural event of the Higher Schools of Pittsburgh School Reform Task Force will be a meeting with renowned educator Dr. Willard R. Daggett, President, International Center for Leadership in Education.
