Jay Ashton

I first heard of Twitter a year ago and was puzzled by its usefulness. However, the popularity of the website has led me to reconsider and revise the site. If you are new to the site, Twitter is a site that users frequently broadcast short updates, usually one or two sentences long. When I first visited Twitter, saw little value in the social network, but as an educator is my responsibility to understand and use new media.

Many micro-bloggers use Twitter as a broadcast medium sense of the events of his life. This form of status updates, Facebook and MSN people are known as lifecasting. Ashton Kutcher, a frequent and popular Twitterer, is quitessential Lifecast one. Despite the logic, Ashton is on track to become the most popular person on Twitter. It has become so popular that recently has been questioned CNN's national newsnetwork for a popularity contest twitter. CNN represents another form of singing known as infocasting, which publishes small amounts of information. A Despite its usefulness, often infocasts may be hollow or shallow. However, a valuable InfoCast forward is education where useful news on trends in education and changes are published.

The brighter side is called mindcasting Twitter. Mindcasting Twitterers who will never share your food choices or bad experiences date, but reflective mindcasters share ideas and resources useful. Anyone can tap into the thoughts of some of the world's most innovative minds, which is a great resource for any professional, especially for educators.

The five mindcasts to follow for teachers of media literacy

1) Jay Rosen: "I teach journalism at New York University, writing the blog PressThink, direct NewAssignment.Net, and try new media Grok. But I do not do lifecasting mindcasting on Twitter. "
2) David Parry: "I think things, and talk about things with students, and get paid for it. (Emerging Media Professor at UT Dallas.) "
3) Scott McLeod: "An associate professor and program coordinator of the Educational Administration from Iowa State University and director of the castle ".
4) Alec Couros "Professor of Educational Technology and Media at the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. "
5) Scott Meech: "Technology in Education is not the future is the present!" He is an expert in education and technology.

Taken on its own terms as a big-screen sitcom, Guess Who offers plenty of humor with just enough social commentary to make its point without being preachy. Highway to Hell Highway to Hell
$6.39

What Highway to Hell has that Back in Black doesn't is Bon Scott, AC/DC's original lead singer who died just months after this album was released. Scott had a rusty, raspy, scream of a voice, like he might break into a coughing fit at any moment. In other words, on crunchy, hook-heavy metal classics like the title track, and on "Get It Hot" which is more roadhouse rock than metal, he had the perfe...
High Voltage (Dlx) High Voltage (Dlx)
$5.70

In 1976, when the Eagles, Peter Frampton, and Heart ruled the rock airwaves, along came five scruffy young men (the lead guitarist was maybe all of 18 and dressed in a schoolboy's uniform) from Australia playing some of the rowdiest, hardest, dirtiest rock of all time. Screaming "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)," singer Bon Scott teased like a braggart. Sensing the rock com...

Adoration [Blu-ray] Adoration [Blu-ray]
$6.02

Adoration is welcome addition to Canada-based Atom Egoyan’s (The Sweet Hereafter) oeuvre that slows down and examines our fast-paced, technology-laden information age. Egoyan’s new film, like his politically charged Ararat, thematically tackles the fears and suspicions surrounding international travel, and attempts to expose what those fears are rooted in. Adoration riffs off o...

Underworld: Evolution (Widescreen Edition) Underworld: Evolution (Widescreen Edition)
$3.50

Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld.
