The digital age has altered forever the way we take and view photos, not least because of the speed at which the final image can be produced and then passed on to other media. Professional photographers can have their pictures on the front page of a newspaper within minutes and holiday snaps can be swapped with friends only seconds after they’re shot.

Canon’s SELPHY CP range has been designed with this ‘instant gratification’ principle in mind and the latest model – the entry-level CP740 reviewed here – has just been released as updated versions of the CP720. It is designed to be ‘party printer’ that is light, compact, chic and easy to use, whilst still managing to produce high quality, economy-size snaps without having to go through a PC.

The basic CP740 unit weighs a mere 940g and its 179.0 x 127.1 x 63.0mm dimensions are smaller than a tiny loaf of bread. Its Apple-like creamy colour is clearly designed to complement your Mac and iPod and the expanded 2.0-inch LCD screen sits squarely in the middle of the top panel. Surrounding it is a range of buttons that control mode, layout, display and date, as well as an innovative and welcome auto-Red-Eye Correction via simple, self-explanatory icons.

The front panel contains four memory card slots that can deal with virtually any of the current versions of CF, SD, MMC, Memory Stick and xD. In addition, a discreet panel on the front-left hides an extendable USB cable that can be attached to PictBridge-enabled cameras or Canon Direct Print devices.

Unfortunately, the downside of this beautiful looking machine is the clunky method by which the phot tray is inserted in the front: a fair amount of huffing and puffing is needed to slot it in correctly. However, once in place you have five sizes to choose from (Postcard, Wide, L, Credit Card and Mini Stickers) and you can view each image full-screen before you print.

Print costs are reasonable at around 20p per postcard size photo using the larger photo pack Kp-108iP, the smaller KP-36iP is really only suitable if you plan to print very infrequently.

What is impressive is the quality of the finished image. Each print takes four passes to complete and it’s fascinating to see the sharpness and clarity gradually emerge (postcards take about a minute), with the final pass adding a high-gloss protective layer that protects from splashes, spills and fingerprints. The CP740 uses 300dpi dye-sublimation printing technology that leaves images virtually grain-free, as each printed dot has up to 256 intensity levels per colour.

If you’re feeling a little more flush with money, its big brother the more expensive CP750 has extra features like ‘My Colors’ photo effects (which include Black & White and Sepia), an optional battery pack and IrSimple compatiblity for infra-red printing from mobile devices. Both models have improved skin tone reproduction for enhanced flesh tones.

The SELPHY CP740 is light, compact, easy to use and cool, but its outstanding picture quality is slightly marred by the awkward loading process every time you’re preparing your photos, however that should not detract from the fact that for just over £60 you can be the proud owner of your very own portable photo lab.

Dostana is an extension of the 'plot kantaben "Kal Ho Na Ho. There is nothing really unique in Dostana (most of the scenes give you a scene of déjà vu "), but nevertheless, Dostana is intermittently funny without being offensive.

Dostana History: Sam (Abhishek Bachchan) and Kunal (John Abraham) are looking for an apartment and because the owner (Sushmita Mukherjee) hates to give the floor to the children so they could not corrupt his niece Neha (Priyanka Chopra), the two pretend to be gay. Neha, Sam and Kunal become friends and the boys begin to fall madly in love with Neha. But Neha has already fallen in Abhimanyu (Bobby Deol), the head of his company. If the two men choose love or friendship is the crux of the story.

Dostana Plus points:
Full credit to Karan Johar have been a taboo subject and applaud Tarun Mansukhani Dostana to direct his first film. Although you can not say the same screenwriter who has just given the same old story with a gay finish, Tarun has directed the film too. We can take your hat off to Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham to be sporting enough, not caring a damn about their image, and do full justice to their roles. And yes, Miami is HOT!

Less Dostana points:
1. Most of the scenes are not funny, just a cliche. In how many movies, have you not seen actors mistakenly doing something suggestive, while the third person comes in and thinks there's something cooking between the two? Seen in Kal Ho Na Ho, Masti,, Golmaal Returns, Hello, etc. Come on guys, it Two Much, and not funny.
2. Dostana is a film about friendship, but the appearance of "friendship" is not shown with the amount correct sensitivity. In the first half, it's all about gay antics and their misinterpretation, and the second one is about two guys trying to attract Priyanka Chopra. The friendship factor is lost somewhere in Dostana.
3. Songs mostly discordant and out of key (one of the worst results of Vishal Shekhar) pop-up in his spare time and slow the pace of the film. Except for Jaane Kyun Desi Girl and really can not remember any of the other songs.
4. Some scenes like the scene of auction and the scenes with Boman Irani were not required and unnecessarily lengthened the movie.

Dostana best scenes:
1. Abhishek Bachchan explanation about how John Abraham and I had met and dated. The flashback is rip roaring fun scene and Abhishek Bachchan Performance makes it a visual treat.
2. A scene cute romantic was when Priyanka Chopra John Abraham is the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. It recreates the magical scene of Shahrukh Khan, Kajol in the film fascinating and makes that looks nice. Tarun Mansukhani full marks for the filming of the scene very well.
3. The scene where Bobby Deol Priyanka Chopra says she does not have a life together in the field Baseball is tenuous, but in motion. Viewers like John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan Priyanka think he has actually said 'yes' to Bobby.
4. The final scene the kiss between Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham is the historical stage, easily going to be one of the spoken scenes in Bollywood. That is the first mainstream Bollywood film to have a gay kiss scene? Answer: Dostana.

Dostana Projects on:
Abhishek Bachchan has given a splendid performance. It's really first class and, although it appeared he had lost his marbles in Drona definitely kicks ass (no pun intended) in Dostana. He is a pure delight. John Abraham set his heart of women in racing as it flexes its muscles finely carved and ass with gay abandon (no pun again). John Abraham is not just 'Brawn Abraham', is also a brilliant performance. Priyanka Chopra has never looked so shapely. His appeal reaches the peak thrust in Dostana. Speaking about Priyanka Chopra, there are a couple of references her ass as the camera flirting with my ass on several occasions, alluding to the fact that boys still think clearly. Priyanka Chopra is pure eye Candy here and really do not have a results-oriented role, as he had in Fashion. She's happy to be a sexy public admiring his 'gay' friends from center the scene of the pig.

Dostana final point:
Dostana is a cliché, an artist from the mean.
